Core Program

Support, encouragement, and structure for your homeschool

Greenhouse Christian Co-School serves grades 1 through 12. Our core program provides in-person learning one day a week. Combining the best of what a private Christian education offers, but designed for those who are homeschooling their children — our approach to education is so unique we coined a new word to describe it. We call it co-schooling.

The "co-" is all-important. Co-school teachers partner with parents for the sake of the students. Parents partner with co-school teachers and other co-schooling families for the sake of the students.

Students enrolled in the Greenhouse core program:

  • Spend one full school day per week in a classroom setting (currently offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). Students arrive by 9:00 a.m., eat lunch at 11:45 a.m. and are dismissed at 3:05 p.m. They also receive a framework for working at home throughout the week.

  • Participate in a number of large-scale events during the year, including our annual science fair, play, art show and living wax museum.

  • Receive consistent opportunity to develop as servant leaders and deepen their own faith, as well as making lasting friendships with like-minded students.

Flexible because every homeschool is unique

We honor the flexibility which home educators value. There are many different ways to couple one’s homeschool with Greenhouse. For every Grammar and Logic-level core course, the syllabus provides additional resources and possible projects for families who want to go further. Since the goal of “homework” is for the student to be prepared for class, in Grammar and Logic levels parents have the freedom to adjust or replace assignments in instances when they believe they have a more suitable way to prepare their child for a given class.

A uniquely Christian and Classical environment

We use a Christian classical approach – a time-tested historical teaching method that aligns with a child's natural developmental stages. In classical education children learn in three phases known as the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric). The subject matter is tailored to the student’s cognitive development.

Grammar (grades 1-4) emphasizes the mastery of the fundamentals of the subject, such as dates, rules, facts and events. Logic (grades 5-8) emphasizes ordered particulars in each subject that help students develop critical thinking skills. Rhetoric (grades 9-12) emphasizes clear expression of the grammar and logic of each subject through speech and writing.

The goal of a classical education is to equip students with the tools for lifelong learning.
