Indoor Rock Climbing Camps

Climbing with responsibility for self & others

This camp will provide the opportunity for the development of safe competent indoor rock-climbing skills and provide a foundation for climbing as a means for lifetime recreation and fitness.  We have the wonderful privilege to have use of Wheaton College’s* entire wall for the duration of the camp! Campers will have the opportunity to build relationships with each other and grow personally, socially, spiritually, and physically.  With Jesus’s standard of Kingdom fellowship as our model, we will work hard to provide a non-threatening and encouraging setting in which campers will be introduced to the exciting world of vertical movement.  Campers will have the opportunity to challenge themselves, push personal limits, and set personal goals in a safe environment.  Ultimately campers will be encouraged to develop interest and awareness in the art and sport of rock climbing and general lifetime fitness activities which parallel rock climbing, such as biking, hiking, strength training, and running.

Upon completion of this introductory camp each climber will be able to: define terms basic to rock climbing, comprehend and understand safety issues and hazards of rock climbing; perform at an introductory level the basic skills and techniques of safe indoor rock climbing with responsibility for self and others, and learn what skill level it is acceptable and safe and what additional training is needed to venture out and climb outside with and without professional supervision; have an understanding and working knowledge of rock climbing etiquette and ethics; participate in activities that will enhance balance, strength, a climber’s fitness, health, and one’s climbing ability.

Experienced and intermediate climbers are welcome to sign up to further develop their skills and participate in building Kingdom fellowship.

Writers Workshop "Alumni" Summer Camp 2025

Forgiveness Song

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays ONLY.

Wednesday, May 28 – Friday, June 6

Come share your gifts to inspire and equip servant leaders. We want to include your voice!

Collaborate with other experienced Writers Workshop students to write and publish Forgiveness Song, our 13th book in the Greenhouse Servant Leadership Series. Working through our writing process, each student will contribute one “final copy” personification poem to our book. Each page of Forgiveness Song will feature one student's poem.

Buy the book: Families will be able to order the Forgiveness Song book which the students produce for about $20. These are beautiful 11X8 hardcover books, which look and feel very much like a library book. (Click to view Summer Camp 2024 Consideration Song online.)

Mrs. Michel will host our book signing and poetry reading (optional) in August.

  • Homework: Pre-writing assigned before the summer session and is required for the first class Wednesday, May 28. 30-45 minutes to prepare for each day of camp.

Optional Add-On (for those with Lit Circle experience)

The Gospel of Mark, Lit Circle style

In the time nestled between the two Writers Workshop sections, experienced Lit Circle students can opt-in to read and discuss the Gospel of Mark Lit Circle style! It is a fun way to know Jesus better and grow in our faith.

  • Homework: A reading and role will be assigned before the summer session and is required for class Wednesday, May 28. 30-45 minutes for each day of camp.
