Greenhouse was awesome for many reasons. It pushed me academically. It steadily encouraged me spiritually. It connected me to my family educationally (as a co-school).
At Greenhouse, I was trained to speak, to write, to read rich literature, to debate, to befriend and serve students much younger than me, and to manage my time and schedule well. I was consistently pushed to be my very best in my classes rather than settle for "good enough". When I graduated high school and began my classes at Wheaton College, I genuinely felt so well prepared. Wheaton was the same level of academic difficulty as Greenhouse - if not, a little easier. I've heard many other Greenhouse grads say the same about their transition to college.
Fun fact: My high school graduation with Greenhouse was held at Community Fellowship Church. When I was walking across the platform to receive my high school diploma, I didn't realize it then, but I was walking across the same platform that I would stand on to lead worship as my full-time job only a few years later. Crazy!
