Hope for parents who want to approach education a different way
Read what Marta Cedeno from West Chicago, Illinois and her husband Al, both public school teachers at the time, discovered when they attended a Discovering Greenhouse event at Greenhouse Christian Co-School in Wheaton, Illinois.
I had heard good things about Greenhouse Christian Co-School and liked what I read about it. When I went to the Discovering Greenhouse event with my husband, though, we were impressed by the vision, ways of thinking about learners and education, and the hope that it gave to us parents who want to do things a different way.
We were both public school teachers, newly considering homeschooling, and were greatly encouraged by the way the event painted a picture of Greenhouse partnering with us in this important endeavor.
In particular, I remember my husband writing down some notes during Tom Spacek's remarks about the Greenhouse's approach. I felt excited because he was catching the vision with me about how Greenhouse could help us shape our homeschool, our family culture, and our kids' character and academic growth.
Greenhouse was offering help in many of the areas we felt our own education was lacking. Together we left excited to offer our kids a banquet of rich learning in partnership with the Greenhouse. Honestly, the Discovering Greenhouse event "talk" helped put into words several key ideas about how I wanted to approach educating my children.
Discovering Greenhouse was a clarifying and encouraging event in our homeschooling journey. I left it knowing that this partnership would be a great fit.
The Cedenos joined the Greenhouse community in 2016 and now have three children in grammar and logic.
